The mallet block is used to distribute the punctual impact force exerted by a hammer or crowbar head across a plain surface and to offset any differences in height. The block also allows for the creation of smooth transitions between pavement slabs or lawn and curb stone edges (preventing tripping hazards). Another advantage is the compaction of the substrate, preventing it from sagging later on. Finally, the block keeps stones and slabs perfectly protected from damage.
